Our Reclamation Process

The science of reclaiming rainforest is new and there are many methods and philosophies. Most are driven by one of three main focuses:
 Maximum carbon capture
Maximum biodiversity
Minimum cost

We tailor our methods to optimize all three, while we vary processes, tools and species across our plots, so that we can develop very specific best practices for each area, as well as study the process and results in great detail, so we can share that with the ecological and scientific worlds to help advance our understanding and the effects received.

1.Evaluate the plot and its contents (structure, invasives, trees, etc.)

2.Determine the degradation of the plot

1.Soil composition

2.Mycorrhiza, bacteria and insect levels and varieties are critical data

3.Plan reforestation techniques based on analysis and/or research goals

4.Most plots will probably require a mixed bag of techniques:

A.Muvuca

B.Specific species (keystone) planting

I.Cecropia, Almond, Gunacaste, etc.

C.Mycorrhizal Additives

D.Phased plantings

I.Inga, Carao, El Vainillo

E.Let it grow
