Ecosystem Services: Education

Building on the concepts of biodiversity, students start leaning about how all the various elements of an ecosystem work together.  From the “circle of life” and how plants, insects and animals all support each other through the more complex concepts of the four benefits: provisioning services such as food and water; regulating services such as flood and disease control; cultural services such as spiritual, recreational, and cultural benefits; and supporting services which underlie the others, we provide course content across the grades.
We are strong advocates of the concept that we can work in coordination with the rainforest, and reap its bountiful benefits without destroying or over-exploiting it.  Understanding the ecosystems services, and how we can partake of them in a sustainable way is core to our work.
