Sustainability: Education

Sustainability is the ultimate goal of our work – bringing things back into balance so that all the inhabitants of our planet can thrive in coexistence.  From basic concepts of using up resources (how many apples do we have if we eat this one?) to complex harvesting models and genetic diversity across populations studied in high school, it is critical that we help students understand balance and finite resources.  We develop lesson plans that help students understand we are part of this earth, just like all the other species, and that we have to live in harmony.  If we develop sustainable ways to live, and better understand how biodiversity and ecosystem services are needed by all, and that with knowledge and work, we can help restore that needed balance for the long term, then we can change the trajectory we have set.
